About

Nick is an accomplished young musician who enjoys performing on both electric and double bass and is equally adept in duos, trios and quartets right through to large ensembles, big bands and orchestras. He studied double bass under Melanie Lester, with additional masterclasses from Ashley John Long, Dawn Baker, Kai Kim and Jim Rintol.

With his big band DYJO Nick performed in France this summer performing at both Crest Jazz Festival and Vienne International Jazz Festival.  He also performed with his big band at the Royal Albert Hall in Autumn at Music For Youth proms.  He is a Devon Youth Jazz Ambassador, performing on behalf of the Music Education Hub to promote jazz to other young people.  

Nick works with a number of function bands and can put together his own band for different events as required, with experience performing at parties, weddings and events. He is also available for live/recording session work, for example performing on electric bass in the band for Bob Chilcott’s “Don’t Go Extinct” Premier.

As a classical bassist Nick plays with the National Youth Orchestra as an Associate Musician as well as South West based orchestras including ISCA South West, Exeter Symphony Orchestra and Devon Philharmonic Orchestra.  He has rehearsed and performed with the following MDs – Roger Hendy, Benjamin Voce, Leo Geyer, Arturo Serna and Julius Akira Mauldin.
